Re: Anybody have any thoughts on this?

I have one but have only dropped it down a couple of times. Needs clear water. I would like to try it somewhere like Pyramid where the water is clear.

I used a Waterwolf camera for my last few...

    Re: Final season tally

My best year ever since starting to fish in 2013. Final total was 18 fish in the boat. Only lost one at the boat (Bummer, that fish still had the purple sheen and silver tail of an ocean fish), and...

Re: Trolling the Sac River for Stripers

I don't know that any of them go that deep. I use a shallow diving lure with a dropper weight to get it down there.

    Sticky: Re: 2019 salmon thread

Thanx, that's interesting that you were not concerned about flutter on the way down. I've wondered about that because I never saw a sick or dying fish flutter down as they sink. They usually slowly...

    Sticky: Re: 2019 salmon thread

So what specifically were you doing that you think you figured it out. I can see you were jigging, but were you doing something specific that was working especially well, or just lifting it up and...

Re: Trolling the Sac River for Stripers

I guess if trolling worked that far up river, there's no reason it would not work in the downtown area. I thought maybe there was some issues trolling these areas because of the varying depths of the...

Trolling the Sac River for Stripers

Does anyone troll for stripers in the Sacramento river, say around Garcia Bend, or Clarksburg? I see lot's of folks using bait, so I would think the fish are there.
I know everyone trolls the delta,...

    Re: Stripers MIA!!

    Nice fish!

I'm guessing you weren't expecting to catch anything that big. You had the "baby striper do do do dodo" net.

    Re: Stripers MIA!!

Thanx for the report. Been hemming and hawing all week as to whether I go to Antioch area and do some top water for striper, or stay in the Sac area for salmon.
    Salmon fishing it is.

    Re: The Big school?

I was right, they came through Thursday, just Thursday. I had two fish and was home by noon.

Don't ask about the skunks on Friday and Saturday.

    Re: The Big school?

Sometimes it's just a matter of working a different stretch of river, depending on the wind direction.
But, I've got a kicker in the back and an 80lb trolling motor on the front that says I'm going...

    Re: Sac metro salmon update

Are you alone, or with a partner.
If you are alone, you need to do something like this.
This has rocked it for me this year.

How Was The Mud At Verona

I was at Verona Friday and the mud was terrible. Does anyone have any word on what it was looking like on Sunday? Is it clearing up? Is the bite back on at all. It was dead Friday.

    Re: trolling with two rods

How deep is the water where you use 10oz. How far back does it end up behind the boat before it's banging on the bottom?

Re: Kokanee-Chinook Hybrid at Lake Berryessa?

That is interesting. What color was the mouth? I would think it might pick up some black in the mouth if it were a king cross. That would be kinda cool.

Re: Anything Caught This Past Weekend?

I tend to go with what I think is a pretty large hook, compared to the trebles I remove. I like the open eye big river hooks. Depending on the size of the jig, 5/0, 4/0, 3/0, 2/0. When they take it...

Re: Anything Caught This Past Weekend?

    Yeah, I saw that too.
I've been really lucky jigging (with single hooks no less) in that I snag 95% of them in the mouth, and it's interesting that most of the ones not hooked in the mouth are on...

    Anything Caught This Past Weekend?

I hit Garcia Bend area Sunday and got nothing. Everyone I talked to had the same results.

Did anyone get anything at Verona, or anywhere else this past weekend?

    Re: Salmon Friday

The Feather out of Verona is pretty shallow now. I went up a couple weeks ago and it was maybe 4 feet deep.
