    Lake Almanor 3/27 - 3/29

Decided to go up to Almanor this past weekend since it's still open. Managed a few fish, nothing big and nothing exciting. Braved through rain, snow and some patch sunny momments. It was nice to...

    Re: Fish tacos

I prefer halibut for my fish tacos. Grilled and brushed with lemon / butter mix then right onto the tortilla with some lettuce, tomato, and avocado slices.

I'm glad halibut should be in the bay...

    Re: Shelter In Place Order

They encourage outdoor activity such as hiking and walking the dog. It's meeting in groups of 10 or more that is an issue. I'm still going to go fishing and I'm fishing in another county that does...

Glad you were able to get out there before the storm rolls in. We were going to go this weekend, but we cancelled due to the weather. Not sure if I want to deal with 3 feet of snow they are...

    Re: Camanche Lake Information

I agree Jetspry. I want the hard wet snowy winters as well. Last winter was great. This year is getting to look like a "flop". All we can hope for is a wetter than normal March, April, May and...

    Re: Camanche Lake Information

Have you thought about giving Pardee a shot? I've fished there before and have done well from the dam and across into the river.

I think the drive into the south is easier just so you don't...

    Re: Rods, Reels, & Line

I run Okuma low profile reels with Mac's Custom spiral wrapped rods with 10lb mono and 4, 6 or 8 lb flourocarbon leaders.

    Good luck.

    Re: Camanche Lake Information

I'd pull some speedy shiners around and vary you depths at 5,10,15 and 20 feet. Work around Big Hat and Little Hat and also the narrows.

Good luck and let us know how you do.

Re: Taking my 10 yr old out for Stripes

The best thing to do when taking kids fishing is to put them on the fish. I would troll for a hour or so until they get bored. Unless you are catching fish. If there are no bites then it's time to...

Re: Roller vs Bunk for EZ Loader Trailer

I always thought roller setups were for those who couldn’t get the trailer down a ramp all the way. Say a short ramp or launching from a place where there were no ramps.

    I have bunks with 2...

A buddy of mine was there a few weeks ago. Trolled for them in 30-50 feet and caught and released 16 fish. All over 24".

    Good luck.

    Re: Any Lake berryessa reports

What was the water temp on the surface? Those fish might be pushed down a little deeper in the 30 foot range. Slow trolling crawlers would be my suggestion this time of year.

I would think the best chance would be in the south bay where the water is all salt. Should be some holding over.

Re: Camanche, do they allow 2 strokes?

I totally understand. Please don't take it personally. I didn't mean to offend you by saying that. I know it's not cheap to repower and I know what "budget" is. I have two boys playing travel...

Re: Camanche, do they allow 2 strokes?

Before my new four stroke, I ran a Yamaha HPDI 2001 model year and it was not an issue. It had a 3 Star CARB rating.

Maybe just call them and see.
